Dheisheh Refugee Camp.
July 24th 2014
Dear Friends and Comrades,
Laylac is an association located in Dheisheh Refugee Camp, Bethlehem. Its goal is to motivate the Palestinian young generation to take part in developing the Palestinian society. We hold many activities that are lead by young volunteers, giving these children a chance to gain experience and knowledge such as art, culture, media, games, and so on. The different activities the association holds always carry political messages about the Palestinian cause and the conflict. Laylac has thirty volunteers. However, the association is open for anyone to participate and volunteer.
Our association is going through a tough financial crisis. The main cause to this crisis is because our activities carry political messages, and therefore the association doesn’t accept funds from parties that don’t agree with the same political views. For instance, the association won’t accept financial support from an organization that works or normalizes what the Israeli state does. Therefore, we want to stay independent and express our political and social views away from any limitations or rules.
We are currently looking for partners who can help us financially to go over this crisis. We prefer funds on a regular basis such as monthly payments or so because this regularity helps us to improve the progress with our activities since they follow a certain schedule. However, we welcome any other types of funds and donations.
Feel free to contact us about further information about Laylac association or regarding other concerns that you might have.
Thanks for dedicating time to read this letter and for the attention to help the Palestinian society in this difficult situation. Indeed, we won’t survive without international solidarity.
We are looking forward to hearing back from you soon.
Director of Laylac
